Ways these Broncos and their 'play-dough' quarterback could end that Kansas City Chiefs' dominance.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage is available on designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six in the football calendar , after recent discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games were the amount of penalties each conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they kind of defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter against Denver, who play overseas this Sunday.

But it was good to see that Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome that deficit before direct three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory by four points.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year in cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet Denver prevailed in that battle.

They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily rushing extra defenders but they could position two LBs in the 'A' gap before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender off the edge.

At the start of the season, we said during a show that the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has excelled significantly while recent running back JK Dobbins is a guy they believe in. He's currently fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver represent a team that wants to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in favourable down and distances.

This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess the arm strength to pass anywhere, however they lack in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, which is different, plus he's so athletic.

His assets include his mobility, being able to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you constantly rush it eats up the clock and makes the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and if you've got a mobile QB the defence must defend the field downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

Nix has bitten back with the coach during games at times and it seems Payton appreciates that fire, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to have a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. He can really build something up the way he desires to build it. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.

The head coach has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having offensively is mostly due to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to be in their division. The key to do to continue this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their strength, which is the ground game, and that's precisely what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the only team yet to win a game.

Since the NFL began tracking turnovers in 1933, the Jets are the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, this is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the division.

This hinges on which form Kansas City shows up they face because the Broncos {beat|def
