Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to set up production lines, the defence ministry announced on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Combat Conditions

The drones will be based on a domestically developed system known as “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in combat and proved effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Latest Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and brutal” after six people were killed and many others wounded in a series of night-time strikes across Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv shortly after 12 AM on Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

Zelenskyy reported the nation was targeted by 430 drones and multiple missiles. Those killed were at home in a block of flats on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Numerous of other buildings were damaged, including the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Protest After Embassy Damage

Russia’s maritime terminal of the port city halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of worldwide oil production – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. The number two oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it is negotiating with interested parties concerning its international holdings after last month’s sanctions from Western nations and failure of an agreement with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal will be announced once conclusive negotiations are completed and required authorizations have been obtained,” the company commented.

Zelenskyy Schedules Visit to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members a day after his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials disclosed. The Ukrainian president would meet deputies from all houses of the legislature during his visit, the Spanish statement confirmed.
