Performer Refutes Anti-Vaccine Position Following Voicing Contentious Coronavirus Film
The acclaimed actor has lent his narration to a recent film that questions the legitimacy of vaccines and lauds former government figure Robert F Kennedy Jr.
The Feature's Provocative Foundation
Named "Plague of Corruption," the documentary is adapted from a bestselling book written by Judy Mikovits, who gained notoriety during the global outbreak for claims that the illness was a result of a problematic version of the flu vaccine.
The publication's co-author, the executive producer, has penned books with controversial figure Alex Jones. The producer recently posted praising Neeson's participation in the documentary.
An Unequivocal Rebuttal
Representatives for the actor have issued a response pushing back against implications that he subscribes to anti-vax views.
"Everyone can understand that corruption may occur within the drug industry, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the statement reads. "Neeson never has been, and is not, against vaccines. His extensive work with Unicef highlights his consistent support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
The statement added that the actor had no hand in the documentary's editorial content and that questions about its claims should be directed to the filmmakers.
Central Assertions Within the Film
According to the documentary, the voiceover read by Neeson features several controversial claims:
- It claims that pro-vaccine voices have insisted on "complete compliance" to government bodies.
- It declares that "science has become highly politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is interviewed stating, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not properly vetted."
- The film takes aim at pandemic restrictions, saying they caused severe distress that resulted in thousands of lives.
- Concerning pandemic shots, it references a report that they were "developed too quickly" and seen as "dangerous experiments."
Historical Controversy and Current Disputes
The film further cites a historical film about AIDS medication trials on children, which was later the subject of a correction by the network for unbalanced reporting.
Last month, the political figure directed the CDC to change its long-held position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is repeated in the film, despite a new report from the global health body reiterating no such link has been found.
An Earlier Position of Support
Differing from the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly shown strong support for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "an extraordinary human success story," noting that "The conversation about vaccines in the past few years has forgotten how much positive impact they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest shared accomplishments in history."
The film finishes with Neeson's script saying, "This marks not the finish of our story. Rather, it is the dawn of a new chapter."
