'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a fan's glasses after the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately slammed home the loose ball before charging toward the crowd to mark the goal, with fans swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an extraordinary recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 during the latter period. During the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result earned a upcoming game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who started in midfield before moving to right wing-back after the team changed shape. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way the underdogs attacked the game.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be focused at all times of the game. It demands a strong mentality and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Orient and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At Orient he linked up again with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a spell at League Two the Manchester club, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a slightly green going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without real physicality. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the past five games, including two matches encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was shut owing to the weather of -15C. "That proved to be a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to travel with the first team and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during mid-afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the guys but I'm planning to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on the Tube after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
