Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
