Both Deceased Students Identified in Brown University Incident as Police Press On With Hunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who died in the recent violent attack in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant continued following the discharge by local law enforcement of the sole person detained in connection in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was remembered as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, per the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

Her role included second-in-command of Brown’s chapter of the College Republicans organization, as the club stated. The White House press secretary also expressed sympathies on social media, stating: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. He had big dreams of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and assisting patients,” his sibling Samira said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine more persons were injured in the violent event in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a raid at a lodging about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Occasionally a probe goes down a path, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our public”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a room in the engineering facility on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a authority reported to the media outlet.

Officers that entered the inn recovered a pair of pistols and magazines when the person of interest was detained, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, officials reported on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private K-12 school in North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Further Tributes

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only here growing up... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the organization. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, companions, and peers and lament the passing of his potential.”

Broader Statistics

The fatal shooting at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US higher education institution with about 7,300 undergraduate and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents reported in the US so far in this year, according to data. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
