It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a team that has won it all.

It needed as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this innings followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

When she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph succeeding win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they left last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the initial instance at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing despite the injury.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this tournament is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as skipper.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her last major obstacle.
